MPI's 20th Anniversary

I had a chance to attend MPI's (The Motion Picture Institute of Michigan) 20th Anniversary the other weekend. I graduated from there in 2005 in independent filmmaking. It was interesting meeting newer alumni and making new connections as well as keeping alive old ones. I think the school has improved greatly since 2005.
The video shows the talents of stunt fighters from Ring of Steel. The head trainer has worked on big movies like The Princess Bride & Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. They did some Marvel movie fighting and had a Captain America shield available for a fighting demo.

There seem to be more students actually making indy films with 1-2 million dollar budgets at the school now. This is shocking to me because in my class no one was able to fund a movie like that. The fire in me for filmmaking is reigniting. Stay tuned everyone.

Short Film Ideas & Shooting in Parks

So here's my new vlog. It's been a while, I'll have to sit on a lazy boy for now until I get my backdrop for the studio. I like including you the audience into the creative process. Let me know what you think of the audio? I think I'll make the audio louder on the next one.

Solo Short Film Underway

Writing a short script right now for a short, short film or 'microfilm'. It should be fun and I just finished shooting the final push-ups video Just finishing up the editing too. The editing is a lot of work to get right, but I just about have it done. Expect it very soon!

Filmmaking Month!

August for me is filmmaking month! I've dedicated the end of July & most of August to shooting, uploading and editing short films. This also includes screenwriting and vlogging (including my root canal update). I'm also looking at wrapping up my last 22 push-up video, that will officially kick off my short film process.
The tricky part is coming up with good inspired ideas for the films. I've been checking my story-list and everytime I've seen that story fish in my head I've jotted it down. I'll try to make a five minute movie first and it's probably gonna be silent.

Drawing Vids

So I've been working on some drawing videos about how to draw the human figure. I'm drawing them in bits. Arms and chest, head and face, etc. I'll be making them into a series and posting them to my website. They're quick videos for beginners to watch over and over again. Stay tuned.

Avenger's Infinity War

Well we've been waiting for this one. The culmination of about 10 years of Marvel movies. That's a lot to live up to!
The movie starts out with The Hulk vs's Thanos fight! It gets right to it. In the first act I get the sense The Hulk's gonna lose and he gets outboxed by Thanos. Hulk loses in about forty seconds! Then he descends back to  Earth as Banner. So that's the whole beginning set up. Spiderman meets up with Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, they go to space, yada, yada, yada...

There's an amazing fight on Titan with most of the gang it's surreal since he's a cg character and it looks so believable.

The only time cg gets a little weird is with the female horseman. They could've just had a woman in prothetics and make-up.
Don't know why they did that.

Overall it's a great movie, lots of screen time with Thanos and setting him up. The cg on Thanos is incredible. He's really come to life and is a lot like he is in the comic with a dash of Brolin to make a little different. He's also a little more sympathitic since he thinks he's doing the right thing for the good of the universe.

Reading the graphic novel right now!

10 out of 10!
