22 Push-Ups Day 2

It was a beautiful day at Stoney Creek Park. I felt inspired to do a video.
Unfortunately my camera ran out of power and I couldn't get some cool vid of the
rocky stream behind me.

22 Push-Ups for 22 Days

Here's Day 1. Thought I'd start the first one with a story about when I talked to my
recruiter about when I signed up as a medic for The Army.

GnR Concert Review

6/23/16 - Ford Field - Detroit, MI

Just got out of The Guns-n-Roses concert. Tons and tons of people. All the
local restaurants and bars full to the brim with fans. Unfortunately, a lot of the fans hung outside
and it was barely visible to see if people were going through the entrance of the stadium.
Because of this, my friend and I ended up missing the first four to five
 songs by Alice-n-Chains.

When we finally got there they were playing the last few songs of their repertoire,
but they sounded great! It was almost like they were the actual album themselves
on high blast. After they left, we walked around the stadium. This was
our mistake sense we misjudged the amount of time it would take for Axl
and the gang to get on stage.

My buddy was still going to the bathroom when GnR went up. The crowd was
going wild and I had to wait for my friend as Axl performed a medley of a few of his hits, like
Mr. Brownstone. Appropriate song since my buddy was in the bathroom? We
were berated with endless people getting in and out of their seats.
Probably about twenty time at least, non-stop standing and sitting. We
had upper-decker seats but we were straight on in the field of view.

The band small but straight ahead.

Axl really came out 'guns' blazing. He was determined to have a great show.
I don't know if it was solely him or the crowd seeing most of the
original band reunite!
It was totally unbelievable. It was more of a surprise to me when I saw Slash playing on stage!
I didn't know they would be actually playing together so it made the whole night
unbelievable for me! There had been so many break ups between them and
playing with other bands that I thought Axl took the name GnR in name
only with him singing with other bandmates.

This is one of those rare times when ignorance was bliss!

Axl, though having a bit of a belly, took the stage with shorter hair. For
some reason, he looked great! He seemed happy to perform! Axel? Happy?
Happy to perform? That went against all of the things I've seen and
heard about him over the years.

People talk about him having plastic surgery or something. I sure couldn't tell
even on the two jumbotrons. His inner light and passion shinned through! Every note
he sang was filled with intent and sincerity. He donned his trademark
flannel, crazy hats and do-rag throughout the concert. He was truly
feeling his passion re-awaken in him again.

He was downright inspirational in his performance.

How was Slash? Slash was on point as usual. In fact even more so with the
huge crowd's energy reigniting the whole experience. The audience was
hungry for this and so was the band. Hit after hit was played from You
Could Be Mine to Welcome to The Jungle. They hit every major and minor
songs out of the park.

There was an amazing fireworks show on stage. Fire shooting up and out as well!
Shotgun blasts! Lots of shotgun blasts! For my father's sake, there were many blasts!

The graphics on the the jumbotron were an endless parade of guns, roses and
skeletons. There was the tunnel barrel from the the bond opening from
Live and Let Die and metal endoskeletons when they played You Could Be
Mine from Use Your Illusion 2 and Terminator 2!

There were skeletons performing kuma-sutra! SKELETONS WERE FUCKING!!

My friend wanted to leave before the encore but I had to stop him. We were
watching history, every minute was special and he wanted to leave
early?!! People kept leaving for whatever dumb reason and coming back. I
stopped one guy and said, why would you miss any of this concert?

The very last song was Don't Cry and man it was absolutely magical. A
animation of a hawk flying through a clouded sky was mesmerizing as Axl
continued to knock it out of the park on piano and vocals.

Axl hit can still hit those high notes! He can still do it! He jumped on
stage posing like a gunslinger and he remembered the face of his father.
He felt every lyric and committed to every note. He was in the zone, doing
what he loved! It was awe-inspiring and could possibly be the best
concert I've been to yet or at least one of the top three.
GnR played music that is so lacking in today's airwaves. Unique style,
balls and passion. My only regret was not buying a twenty dollar t-shirt.

Thank you Guns N'Roses. You made me happy to be alive.

Nice Guys (Quick FB Review)

Nice Guys.
Funny movie. Cool buddy detective movie set in Los Angeles in the seventies.
The dialog and period setting makes it unique. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are a good team even if the plot can be tricky to follow, it still holds up. Shades of Last Boy Scout with the young daughter tagging along with father (Gosling) and Crowe.
Some damn funny scenes hold it all together. There's a scene that takes place in The Comedy Store (where I performed and maybe got one laugh 😄). Very Los Angeles-centric with some references to Detroit thrown in 👍🏼
Would've like the seen some scenes shot there though.
8.5 out of 10.
Check it out.

-men: Apocalypse Review

X-men: Apocalypse Review (minimal spoilers)

From everything I was reading I expected to be underwhelmed with this movie :/ hate early reviews weeks from the domestic opening.

The Cons:

Needs more Wolverine.

Apocalypse still looks kinda bad. Really wished he looked a lot more threatening and imposing like he did in the comic. The only thing that saved it was Oscar Isaac's performance. Even with his voice being a kind low whisper, he still makes it work.

Not enough introduction for Apocalypse's backstory. He has an interesting origins story that was teased at the end of DOFP but it wasn't fully realized here :/

A lot less Jubilee then expected. No Wolverine and Jubilee scenes.

Needs more Wolverine

Archangel's terrible mohawk instead of opting for a blue skinned open masked version of him.

Apocalypse's full powers weren't fully utilized :/

Mystique/Jennifer Lawrence leads the x-men :/

Needs eggs, hashbrowns and a side of more Wolverine.

The Pros:

Wolverine and his fantastic cameo that should've been in Wolverine Origins. Things get bloody and I love it!

Oscar Isaac's performance as Apocalypse aside from looking like a villain from The Power Rangers. Well done.

Sophie Turner! Sporting an American accent, good performance and good everything else.

James McAvoy getting better each movie. He was getting a lot more like Stewarts version.

-Quicksilver was still fun but I thought the speed scene, though funny, felt a little forced.

-Micheal Fassbender still very good and stealing scenes.
Awesome scenes with him and Apocalypse.

-Psylocke was great but wish she had a british accent.

-Scenes with Cyclops and Jean Grey. Good to see their characters back onscreen again.

Overall, the cast showed up, punched the time clock and did a pretty good job. I'm sure the Kraft Services fed them all well.

Seriously though, Singer can still tell a great emotional story.
The bad costume and makeup design, missed backstory opportunities, cool final showdown and a incredible inspired cameo...I give this a rating of
7.8 out of 10.

Still a good movie and strong story but not perfect by any means. Entertaining and worth seeing in the theater but braver costume  character design choices should be truer to the source material.
